I have been planning for some time for the introduction of a blog to our current 199Web website. However, in the daily mad rush of juggling ten thousand and one things…. the blog idea… remained an idea… until today that is. I guess necessity is the motherhood of invention. Nothing can be more true then this…
Anyway, a customer called me about how to access the his files via FTP. Having told the story over a hundred and one times, I finally decided that it might be a good idea to finally implement the our blog - Web Design Blabber. At least, in this way, I might need to answer the question only once.
Anyway, here goes the serious stuff…..
1. First we will attempt to launch the Internet Explorer Program by clicking on the icon.

2. Following which we will type the ftp url of your site into the address bar. Note that the ftp url starts with ftp:// and not your traditional http://

3. We will right click on the blank space of the screen and select Login As to fill in our Login Details.

4. Fill in your login details as shown in your email (you should have gotten an email from us with your ftp login details. if you did not receive such an email, feel free to request it from us by dropping us a mail at support@199web.com.sg). Also remember to check the Save Password checkbox.

5. Upon successful login, you will be shown 4 folders as seen in the diagram below. All your source files are stored in the public_html folder. Click on it and you will see your source file listings. Feel free to do the normal Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) operations to upload/download your source files from the website.

If this somehow does not work for you, feel free to check out an alternative way of accessing your website source files with a FTP client program, SmartFTP.
