Recently, something interesting happened. We were asked to revamp an existing website, ICG Training. Frankly, I found the design of their current website pretty good. I was really not sure if we could do something better. But still, we just put our brain juices together and tried to come out with something….
Well, to give you a good feel of the old design, click on the picture below:

Well, in my opinion, it was definitely not ugly. Well, figuring out that it will be a really uphill tasking competing just on design alone, we decided to interest the client in terms of functionality. We started doing our mockup with hints of CMS functionality (Whoops… sorry about the technical jargon, for the non-geeks, CMS simply refers to Content Management System) So we started putting in things like Student Login, Dynamic Content Panels, and ther result was:

Well, what do you think our client’s response was?
James, we have taken a look at the design and it is breathtaking.
Well honestly, after such a flattering comment, we immediately try to look through the deisgn again. We came to the conclusion that - Our design is not bad, but frankly, as their old design is pretty good, we really do not see a lot of overall improvements (ICG Training is unlike our routine clients whose existing websites are like… errr… you know what i mean…). Was it our CMS login function that interested them or was it the promise of dynamic content update features that caught their attention?
I dun know.
But I did read somewhere that the best way to accept a compliment was just to smile and say thank you. And that was just what I did.
