Commenting on Mockups

intropic.png As the saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words”. Many a times, during the mockup phase, our clients will like to tell us to do certain changes to the design. However, we often phase a limitation on what can be expressed on words

In such instances, I will recommend our clients to download the software, Snag It, and use it to illustrate the necessary changes. Click here to download Snag It!

Snag It basically allows you to make comments and annotations on the design effortlessly. It saves you a lot of time in expressing your preferences to us. Commenting on our design using Snag It will take less than 5 minutes.. but it is definitely worth more than a thousand words to our designers….

Of course, Snag-It will require a license to run. Once you find that you like the software, you will need to purchase the license key from the company. If not, it will stop functioning after 1 month.
1. To start capturing the data, click on the snag it icon on the desktop. Following which, you will see the Snag It Control Panel. Select the second option of “A region to Clipboard”. Next, to begin capture, click on the Capture button or press Ctrl + Shft + P.

2. You will see a magnifying glass at the top right. Continue to drag out a region of capture by clicking your mouse from the top left and dragging to the bottom right without releasing your finger.

3. To highlight a certain region, click on the shape icon… and highlight the region by dragging your mouse from the top left to the bottom right with the left button depressed.

4. To draw an arrow, click on the arrow icon and draw it on the picture

5. Finally, to write the text, click on the text icon and drag out a rectangle to denote the region the text will be inserted. Then fill in the text in the pop-up box.

6. You may then proceed to save your file into the clipboard or as an image file. If the file is saved into the clipboard, it can be pasted into the email with a Ctrl + V.

I’ve been using WisePixel’s Handysnap.

SnagIt looks more comprehensive and is able to take screenshots that are over a page long.

Good stuff.

Thanks! :)
