spider.JPGA content management system (CMS) gives users the flexibility of changing the content of the website themselves. However, lay man with no experience in image processing will generally face some difficulties in the picture updates. This is because, like it or not, the CMS administrator has to possess some simple image editing skills for a CMS to be useful.

Based on feedback from many of our CMS users, the most common graphic editing functions needed are:

  • Resizing & Cropping an image to an exact size (i.e. 80 by 80 pixel)
  • Stripping a picture of its background

After evaluating a series of software, we have finally identified 2 very user-friendly software for this purpose.

Resizing & Cropping an Image to an Exact Size

One of the most user friendly software for resizing and cropping an image to an exact size is the ACD Photo Editor. It is also very user-friendly to operate. The good thing about this software is that it allows you to select an exact size for the crop by providing a cropping window for you.

Removing the Background Image

We all know that ugly backgrounds sometimes render an image unpresentable in a picture. To remove the background, the Photo Crop Editor is perfect for the job. It basically splits the background removal process to a simple 3 steps!

  • Highlight Foreground and Background
  • Touch up on areas to be extracted
  • Extract the picture!
