Setting up a SPAM Filter

Recently, we have been receiving requests on the removal of email spam. Generally there are 2 ways to remove email spams. One is a client side solution, while the other is a server side solution. The client side solution refers to the purchase of a Windows based applications which can scan through all your incoming mails. A quick google showed that Spam Bully might be useful.

The other solution is a server side solution. As part of your hosting package, we provide a server-based spam filtering software known as Spam Assassin. This article will show you how to configure your server to set up the Spam Assassin,


Step 1: Login to DirectAdmin with our login id and password

Step 2: Login to DirectAdmin with our login id and password

Step 3: Click on SpamAssassin

Step 4: Set the subject to have the ****SPAM**** label.

4_Mark_Spammed_Mails

Step 5: Save Settings

Your Spam Assassin has been set to mark all subject with the ****SPAM**** label. You should run the server under this setting for some time to see its effectiveness. Change the settings till it marks off most of the spam without deleting your emails.

Once you are satisfied with the Spam Detection Algorithm, proceed to Step 6.
Step 6: Repeat all the steps, replacing step 4 with the below - Marking a direct deletion of spam.
