Recently, I was given task to analyze all the available blog writers, and choose one that is appropriate for our users. So, I want to share with you all my findings. Let’s start one by one. The first question that came to my mind was why what actually is a blog writer for. Yeah, the answer is, we can’t be connected to Internet all the time. There are times when we are traveling, not connected to wires or web, so this software will help us to blog even off the Internet from our desk. Our thought will not be wasted, and we can stay connected anywhere, everywhere. A good blogger must have an easy to write interface, all features supporting extreme blogging and besides all this it needs to be user friendly. So, let’s see do we have a perfect match to our requirements.
Let’s begin with the most powerful one. As I already had a soft corner for this one. I like it; this gives me most of the cool features and a lot of freedom. I can type, insert image with just paste key, and even add new category to my blog for posting without actually going there, what else I need. Ok, somebody told me I cannot insert tables in it by paste key, but my findings are different. Select the tables you want to insert, than come to the live editor, right click and select the option ‘special paste’ than check the ‘keep formatting’ option and that’s it. Your table will be pasted. From all the writers we just explored, I think I would give Windows Live Writer the best ratings.
Blog desk is not bad, got all the essential features to blog offline. User interface is not very catchy but still the reason for having not so catchy interface is not too bad, that with its less catchy interface they provide more space for you to concentrate on the content you want to type. Some of the features are listed below.
- WYSIWYG editor
- Supports almost all major Blogs
- Give you facility to insert images by uploading them, but you cannot copy image directly into text.
- Spell Checker
- You can save your writing as draft
- You can save a Paragraph and then auto replace it
- It can generate Thumbnails for images
- It’s Free
Blog jet, not very impressive from its outlook if you are looking for something cool. It didn’t give you cut and paste option for images so very difficult for user to click her and there to get the image in the text. Albeit it got other interesting features, like you can add things from YouTube and flicker. A text replace feature is there. You can also view statistics of your posts.

Zondry raven a cool writer, got simple face, but a lot of hidden qualities behind that face. It gives you powerful text editor, with XHTML support, you can also copy and paste table. SO, I thought we have got a perfect writer. The best part for which I like it, I never had to configure it; it updates itself from my existing writer this saved me from a lot of hassle. It can be portable you can just install it in your flash and take your blog entry to anywhere. The editor is not that powerful, you cannot count words, cannot replace words, but still, doing most of the things. No file attachment is supported too.

Flock is a very interesting browser enjoyed it more than just a blog writer. It provides almost all blogging option with. This part was just hidden behind other many visible features, the editor is not very powerful, spell check is there but I could not find any word count. To paste an image you need to have a photo upload account, weird!! . But at least you can add tables. Besides blogging, I found it very interesting. You can have your facebook, YouTube, and other social networking accounts in the same browser window as a sidebar. You can upload images and video streams to share with your friends. So, much for the name Flock a social web browser.

Quama, looks cool, have simple settings not much trouble in configuration. Now let’s explore it and see what it can do. All general features which have seen in others are there but I’m looking for two thing i.e. pasting image and tables directly into the text. Anyway’s, not very successful, I can paste the tables, but can’t paste image directly, rest of it is not bad. I like it though it cannot do anything different than other; maybe I have given it a little higher rating because it has green and orange buttons which I like, nice colors.

Write to my blog They say, its web based, if you have to blog, than blog from our page and do there is no option to download. Funny, if I have to go to web, why can’t I post it to my blog directly why do they want to me to do extra effort? Don’t know; let them have fun of their own. Even the writer doesn’t give me any special features, to decide in its favor
LipidIDR, worst so far it can blog only at word press, no text editor. Even you must change font color yourself
